About PIDAM

PIDAM’s long –term Objectives:

• To contribute poverty reduction by targeting provision of Academic development in order to enhance and increase the employment opportunities for particularly youth in Puntland and to support the delivery of qualified human resources to support the continued development of the public and private sector.

Objectives of the Program

1. To provide Two- year Diploma to students who completed their secondary school.
2. To train both middle and top managers for Puntland’s public and private sectors of the economy as well as social service.
3. To prepare students to exploit opportunities of the newly created management profession.
4. To develop appropriate skills for the students so as to make them competent and provide themselves self-employment
5. To inculcate students entrepreneurial skills
6. To enable young professionals to join top decision making bodies in both private and public sectors in Puntand’s economic and service components.
7. To train students in communication skills effectively.

Immediate Objectives

• To become a major provider of high quality training in Academic Courses for young men and women which will enable them to acquire professional skills to achieve employment or establish self-employment through business – start-up.

MISSION Statement

• To provide high quality Academic programs in order to promote development, creativity and employment opportunities for the people of Somalia.
• To be a provider of high academic standards and competencies for the public and private sector to support human resource development for social and economic development in Somalia.
• To be also a source of tailor-made capacity-building and skills development courses, designed in accordance with customer needs, for services to public and private sector, including the international community.

Vision Statement

A national – class training University and a community of scholars committed to the promotion of academic achievement and excellence in training a highly skilled manpower as embodiment of the aspirations of the Somali people and the regional community.

In order to realize the above vision and mission, certain values need to be nurtured by the University. There is great need to demonstrate that PIDAM University is guided by the right values, and that as public institution it recognizes the high level of expectation from the nation:

Message by Rector

PIDAM University is created and exist to provide quality education to young generations of Puntland and Somalia as a whole, so as to give them valuable opportunities to apply the latest technologies and knowledge and at large to take Puntland in the midst of the competitive societies. The University gained recognition from our community and government as well. As being an accredited University, we will maintain quality reputation of our diploma. In addition to the accreditation, we have solid evidence that supports our mission of "quality education." For example, during the 1990 to 2012 our students who finished their academic programs achieved superior positions in both public and private sector organizations as well as graduate degree in local universities. Others continue their Post Graduate studies in internationally recognized universities in Britain, Australia, United States of America, China, Malaysia, Egypt, Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Yemen.
